Context:

One of the main international fashion brands had grown very fast year after year. Because of this, it needed to improve its internal processes to give better service to its customers.

With around 10,000 garments added to its e-commerce every week, the workload was heavy for employees. So the company needed to automate a process that, until then, the team had mostly done by hand.

My role:

This time, my job was to understand the specific needs of the stakeholders and to iterate as needed to deliver a much more optimized and polished visual design.

Our main challenge was to dive into the billing cycle and learn how each of the main people in the process worked, and how we could help: to automate more, reduce human errors and increase productivity.

Garment tracking

Garments went through many processes, so we created a code to let everyone involved know the status of each garment. We used these letters:

P: Flat lay. M: Model. D: Description.

General conclusions

I take 2 clear insights from this project. First: to help transform a company’s internal processes, you have to work on site with them. It’s the only way to know their reality, map the service and then help to transform it.

Second: we must learn to define MVPs with clear criteria. If we don’t agree from the start with the project owner on how far we’ll go, the project can fail.
